I've wanted to do a 'Ghibli' style background for a long time and lockdown has given the space to do that. It was a great opportunity to learn from the amazing artists there and I spent ages looking through the 'Art of' books to try and gain a better understanding of how they work. Mine is digital of course, rather than poster paint - the results they get with that just blow my mind and try to replicate the style in Photoshop made my respect for what they do even greater. The last couple of images show the rough concept sketch and the ref photo of our house which formed the base. I've taken the modern extension off in the painting to make the house look closer to when it was originally built.
